五、结论
依上文所云,只好说象是从“道体”出来的。“道之为物,惟恍惟惚,其中有象”之“其中有象”表示象的根据是道体。因此,我们所说的“象”并不是得自所谓思考与言述上的作用。我们只能说象是从直观道体而得到的。因此,老子里面除了讲道体与道相以外,也讲所谓修德之道及其他生活之道,并且包括所谓事物及心境人格状态之道,即透过修养功夫而体验或直观到的道。老子所谓“涤齐玄览”、“致虚守静”、“专气致柔”、“为道日损”及“为学日益”等修德之方,明白地显明直观道的境界。
“古之善为士者,微妙玄道,深不可识,夫唯不可识,故强为之容,豫兮焉若冬涉川,犹兮若畏四邻,俨兮其若容,涣兮若冰之将释,敦兮其若仆,旷兮其若谷,混兮其若浊”(老子十五章)。
因此,“象”也许是这种人所直观得到的“所以意想者”吧。
此外,Tilmer S.C.Northrop说到从直观得到的四个概念如下【7】:
(一)由感性分出来的连合体概念=未经抽象化的直接认知之全体(The concept of the Differentiated Aesthetic Continuum = The Totality of the immediately apprehended with nothing abstracted away)
(二)不确定或无别异的连合体概念=没区分的直观连合体(The concept of the Indefinite or Undifferntiated Continuum = The intuited Continum apart from all defferentiations)
(三)分异概念视察所得之概念=视察所得之原子概念=离开连合体而各别视察所得之特殊属性或分异( The Concept of the Differentiations = Concepts by Inspection = Atomic Concepts by Inspection = the Specific Inspected Qualities or Differentiations considered apart from the Continuum)
(四)视察所得之“场”概念=任何将第三与第二概念视为不可分者(The Field Concept by Inspection = any instance of 3 considered as inseperable from 2 )
我觉得庄子讲的“无”象之意义跟Northrop所言之第二个直观概念大概是相似的,而老子讲的“象”之意义跟第四个直观概念也是相似的。
